The graphics are beautiful. The card play is smooth and engaging. The power-ups are in the form of companions you recruit as you advance the plot of the story. You can also buy wild cards. The last level is actually a bit challenging with the Golem periodically setting your cards on fire. You can replay any hand just after you finish it, in case you think that you can (or need to) do better.People complain about the game counting their incomplete chapters as failed. The devs have tried to fix this and been unable to, so just roll with it. I simply played in 10 hand segments (takes about 20 minutes) and then exited when the following section's first hand was dealt. No issues at all.Took 13 hours to finish the whole game with all achievements. The nice thing about the achievements is that they reward you for half-measures. What I mean is, you need to complete half the chapters with top rating. You get top-rating by getting perfect on 5 out of the 10 hands. You get an achievement for getting half the amulets from the store. In this way, there is nothing compelling players to grind hands to get everything perfect, except their OCD perhaps.Highly recommended!. This game is not bad. I had fun playing through the game, so why be a negative nancy?Well the last stage ruins it all. It's riddled with bad decisions and 'bugs' (hard to tell which one it is) kind of like a pr0stitute...Firstly, you cannot replay levels within the stage at your leisure. The only time you can replay a level is straight after or after completing the stage, in which you have to start back at the first level and go through one by one. This isn't too bad throughout the game as the only thing you really need is a perfect stage (if you're a completionist like me), which means completing at least half of the levels with a perfect score. You can easily do this by just replaying any levels straight after if you do not have a perfect score.This is a minor inconvenience... until the last stage. The last stage, you have to beat a big stone by collecting gems hidden behind cards. You have to collect 60 gems in 10 levels and obviously it's not 6 per level, as a normal, levelled game would be. There are a varying number of gems on each level and it doesn't state how many you have to collect, so it's near impossible to know whether or not you should replay the level unless you perfect it (It's hard to perfect every level of a stage, especially the last stage).This isn't even the worst part though. Replaying a stage at the end until you get perfect on every level isn't a massive challenge? Just a bit laborious... Well, there is a bug/feature where in after you play the level, any replays wield no more gems... Therefore, unless you collect all the gems on the first playthrough of the level (which you don't actuall know how many are on each level), you can't get any more gems and therefore if you've missed one, you have to go through all 10 levels to complete the stage, fail and then start again. Basically, if you don't perfect (or very near perfect if you're lucky) every level of the last stage, without fail and with incredible luck, grabbing all the gems, you cannot complete it... oh and also you can't quit levels half way through (otherwise you get a fail) so therefore you have to play the stage all the way through in one go otherwise you 'fail' and due to the nature of the last stage, that means failing the whole stage...This seems ridiculously complicated for a 'casual game' and one that is fairly relaxing and simple throughout.This is supposed to be a relaxing experience and the last stage turned into something that frustrated me so much, I had to go on super meat boy and dark souls to relax me. I hope that big boss stone gets kicked by a kid into an old persons window or something where it feels forever guilty to the point where it never shows it's fiery self again.... I have 140 plus hours againt the free version, so I happily purchased this. I should have looked at date of release.The free version is two years after and is a lot more polished.I won't be playing this as much, but I will look at their later releases.. The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire is as the name suggests, a solitaire game. Whereas solitaire has been a game that has seen countless adaptations and added quirks to try and keep the player interested, this one definitely outdoes the rest.Pros:-Simple, relaxing gameplay-Calm soundtrack -Offers a story behind the game, albeit cliche, with some reasonably good characters voiceovers-Mechanics of the game are simplistic, yet challenging-"Special powers" from the different factions are an interesting additionCons:-Reasonably pricey for a game of this genre-Lack of proper widescreen supportOverall, this is one of the better solitaire games out there, and worth a look if you are a fan of the genre8/10. A fun solitaire game with a great story and fantastic artwork ! The theme makes this game stand out from other solitaire games, especially if you like the fantasy genre. Power ups and card styles fit the theme perfectly. There are also hidden object levels scattered throughout that play into the overall story. The level selection map is a great feature and makes it seem like you are on a expedition straight out of Lord of the Rings. Nice solitaire game similar to Faerie Solitaire.If you're played Faerie Solitaire or Three Towers (as it's sometimes called) then you are familiar with the idea of this game. You have to clear all the cards in the layout by clicking on a card that is numbered one higher or one lower than the card in the deck. For instance, if your deck card is a 5 you can click on either a 4 or a 6. It's easy to get combos by going up and down the numbers, like 4-3-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-8-7-6, etc. depending on the layout and luck.As the story goes on you gain 4 helpful allies with special abilites. There are also amulets you can purchase in the store with the gold you gain in the levels. The story is kind of silly, but it's just a card game so who cares. Bad guy in black robe and holding a snake staff wants to conquer the world. You and your allies have to stop him. You travel the land of men, elves, dwarves, and mermaids (though you only get to see a merMAN, no maids unfortunately). In each place you have to restore the temple that has been desecrated by the bad guy, and restore the elemental crystal.In addition to the card playing levels there are also occasional hidden object levels. That makes for a nice break from just cards, cards, cards all the time.The gameplay is solid. It's fairly easy to get good combos even without using bonuses. Though, I was playing on casual difficulty, so i don't know if the gameplay is harder on the harder difficulty or if they just give you more things to accomplish to win.Graphics are nice, with soft colors fitting a fantasy world.Music is nice background music. It's sort of like classical music, just nice background music that does not intrude on your thinking.There is also voice acting in this game. Each character has a voice. They also print the dialogue in boxes.Length of playtime for me was 12 hours. However, I tend to keep replaying levels if I don't get a perfect or near perfect.
